Hello! My name is Melissa Kinmartin!
Welcome to my site! Here you can learn more about the Keto lifestyle, Keto tips, recipes, fitness, triathlon and more.
I am a wife, mom of three wonderful children and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks! I’ve been an athlete my entire life, playing soccer, track, cross country then continuing into my love of running into college and adulthood. I had a brief set back while having my three kids and gained over 50 pounds and lost a lot of my confidence along the way. I got back into fitness by starting with a boot camp. This lead to me getting back into running then cycling. I then decided I wanted to try Triathlon after seeing the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii while on vacation. I had no previous lap swimming experience so that come from scratch. I was not a swimmer.
Along my journey I was always passionate about health and fitness and helping others. Five years ago I became a health and fitness coach and started helping other moms and women start or get back to a healthy lifestyle with so many success stories! I myself lost 45 pounds on my healthy journey!
I’m also passionate about being an endurance athlete, and a health and fitness coach. I love to motivate and inspire others showing them a busy mom like me can do this! I love t shares my personal experience and knowledge to help others improve their lives. I am constantly learning and experimenting on myself to continue to better myself as well as better serve my clients.
I’ve tried many different “healthy diets” and ways of eating over the years. I’ve tried everything from vegan, paleo, portion control, and clean eating in the pursuit of finding what would work best for me. Many did not work! I did however get results with clean eating but I came to a plateau and for a while! My goal this Triathlon season was to lean out for racing!
That is when I discovered the Ketogenic Lifestyle!
What is the Ketogenic Diet?
Keto is a high healthy fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate diet. Specifically, 60-75% calories from healthy fats, 20-30%% protein and 5-10% carbohydrates, if you’re familiar with macronutrient breakdowns. These numbers are going to vary for each individual depending on your carb tolerance, but it’s a good place to start.
When you aren’t eating carbohydrates, your body will eventually shift to burning fat instead of burning sugar (Glucose) which is a natural state called ketosis.
There is a growing amount of literature and resources about the Ketogenic Diet and urage you to explore it if it interests you.
How do you stay on a Ketogenic Diet? My answer – Ketones
I was introduced to Ketones after trying to be on a strict Ketogenic but was having some trouble staying strict with the diet due to off days we all have!
So to achieve ketosis naturally you need to severely restrict carbohydrate intake (fewer than 50 grams of carbohydrate per day) so that the body becomes adapted to using ketones to fuel muscles and the brain instead of sugar (glucose).
It is super easy to kick yourself out of ketosis. Even the strictest person on Keto might occasionally crave a slice of cake or join in some carbs socially. Hence the benefits of doing a ketogenic diet and taking exogenous ketones supplements. Keeping your carbohydrates down below 50grams per day on a long term basis can be a challenge for many people.. So what about if you increase the ketones in the body by taking supplemental (exogenous) ketones?
When you take this product (Ketones), your body immediately starts using ketones for energy just like you would if you were in a deep state of ketosis. This means you can have the benefits of ketosis whenever you want.
With Ketones I am getting great results! I have leaned out, lost some weight, have crazy energy and finally broke a plateau I was in. I feel amazing. I really love and use Keto//OS products. I started out with a 10 Day Experience so I could try all the flavors. If your interested in a 10 Day experience or Ketones please click here to learn more.
